Indonesian Mail

Yesterday’s mail brought a bulging packet covered with colorful stamps:  An envelope from our friends at the Yayasan Gunungan orphanage in Java, where our students worked during their Indonesian expedition in January!  Inside was a bundle of letters addressed to individual Explorations students from the orphans, including some touching and beautiful notes.

There is no way to share more than a couple of the notes here, but we’re posting one letter from a Javan child named Puput and one from the 0rphanage director, Steve Smith.  Steve shows his sense of humor in saying that he’s sure we’ll return this year!

Incidentally, the Yayasan Gunungan orphanage website includes a page of photos of the Explorations Academy visit, which we encourage you to visit.  The url is http://www.gunungan.org/Inggris/galery/foto_yg_26.html.  If you feel so inclined, you can also use their website as a way to make a donation in support of their work.  Keep in mind that even a very few American dollars go a long ways in Java.

We’re very pleased to know that Explorations students have made real connections with kids from such a different part of the world.
